2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Engine Mount Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Front Engine Mount on 2000 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Before you begin, pull the negative cable out of the car battery, move the fan position to make room for the radiator top tank and hose and do not lift the engine using the intake manifold. First, place the engine support fixture on the engine mounts and then hoist the vehicle. Once the engine is slightly lifted, unscrew the thru-bolt and nut position and the engine bracket/cushion bolts. With the nuts out, also unscrew the bracket and heat shields. To install the engine, when it has been raised slightly, fit the engine support bracket/cushion and heat shields to the engine block using new bolts, but tighten them to 81 Nm (60 ft. lbs.) torque. Then, put the through-bolt in the engine support bracket/cushion, lower the engine on the support fixture and use it to guide the engine bracket/cushion and through-bolt into the support bracket and finally, secure the nuts so they are tightened to 102 Nm (75 ft.lbs.). After that, bring the vehicle back to the ground and unhook the lifting fixture.
