2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Van A/C Compressor Cut-Out Switches Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service A/C Compressor Cut-Out Switches (high-pressure sensor/switch) on 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Van?
    A: Service of the high pressure sensor/switch should start with disconnecting and isolating the battery negative cable. Disconnect the wire harness connector from the high pressure cut-off switch which is fitted on the line between the compressor and the condenser inlet. Twist off the high pressure cut-off switch from the discharge line and remove it from the vehicle, along with the O-ring seal from that fitting. When putting in a new O-ring seal, first lubricate it with clean refrigerant oil and install it in the discharge line fitting, but use only O-rings recommended for the vehicle and made from the correct material. Lead the discharge line hose through the high pressure cut-off switch's outer body, check and tighten it to 7.5 Nm (5.5 ft. lbs.), plug its connector onto the switch and then reconnect the battery negative cable.
