2000 Dodge Viper A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A
Q: What Are the Best Practices for Handling the A/C Accumulator in a Refrigeration System on 2000 Dodge Viper?
A: Make sure that the refrigerator has no liquid in it before you start the operation. An A/C accumulator from a 134a system cannot be swapped for one from an R-12 system. It is important to keep your R-134a system components away from moisture, since oil contaminated with water may ruin the compressor. Remove the A/C accumulator by raising the bonnet, releasing the two high-pressure refrigerant lines from its top part and discarding their old O-rings. After that, remove the two nuts beneath the driver's side toe box and the clamp bolt on the A/C accumulator, then take the A/C accumulator out of the clamp. Make sure to cover each of the open refrigerant line ends to keep the lines clean. For this step, add new O-rings to both refrigerant lines that direct to the A/C accumulator, reverse what you did earlier and use a torque wrench to tighten the A/C Accumulator Attaching Nuts to between 5 and 6 Newtons meter (in-lbs.). Ensure to evacuate and recharge the A/C once you are done.
