2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ambient Temperature Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain an Ambient Temperature Sensor on 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: The ambient temperature sensor should be serviced after disconnecting and isolating the negative battery cable. The sensor lies under the right side of the radiator opening inside the headlamp mounting module and is visible behind the grille. Unkey the radiator grille fascia and slide into place and then cut the wire harness connector from the ambient temperature sensor receptacle. Screwdriver out the screw attaching the ambient temperature sensor bracket to the headlamp mounting module, then remove the sensor. To install, place the ambient temperature sensor on the radiator yoke and put in the screw to fix the bracket, tightening it to 2.2 Nm or 20 in. lbs. Attach the harness connector to the ambient sensor connector receptacle, sit the radiator grille fascia back into its place on the headlamp module and then link up the battery negative cable last.
