2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ambient Temperature Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain an Ambient Temperature Sensor on 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Removing the battery negative cable is something I recommend doing at the start. You will find the sensor to the side of the radiator opening in the headlamp mounting module behind the grille. After removing the fascia, place the insert in from the headlamp mounting module. Remove the wire connector from the ambient temperature sensor, take out the one screw that holds the sensor to the headlamp mounting module and remove the sensor. Secure the ambient temperature sensor onto the radiator yoke; then use a screwdriver to tighten the bracket as much as 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). First, connect the sensor wire harness, then place the radiator grille fascia on top of the engine, then attach the headlamp housing and finally clip the battery cable back into place.
