2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Lash Adjuster Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Lash Adjuster on 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before handling the lifter and lash adjuster, you should take out the engine cylinder head and the push rods. After that, remove the tappets through the cavities meant for the push rods in the cylinder block using a Hydraulic Valve Tappet Removal/Installation Tool. No matter what kind of tappet you have, they will charge automatically with oil as soon as the engine starts. Dip each necessary tappet into Mopar Engine Oil Supplement or a substitute, then put the tappet back into its bore using the Hydraulic Valve Tappet Removal/Installation Tool. Replace the cylinder head assembly and install the push rods into their original places. With the bridge still loose, put the rocker arms and bridge and pivot assemblies into their original places. Tighten one capscrew at a time, rotating between them, to prevent damage to the bridges and to keep them torqued at 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) Add the entire amount of Mopar Engine Oil Supplement or a similar product to all the valve actuating assemblies and do not drain the mixture until after driving 1,609 km (1,000 miles). Set the engine cylinder head cover in place as well.
