2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Washer Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove the Washer Pump from the Reservoir Without Detaching It on 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: It is possible to remove both windshield and rear washers pumps from the reservoir while the unit is still mounted, without taking it out of the vehicle. Start by taking off and disconnecting the negative cable of the battery and lift up and support the vehicle. Take the liner out of the left front fender wheel house. Release the left headlamp and dash wire harness connector from the inoperative washer pump receptacle. After that, remove the washer hose from the barbed outlet nipple of the inoperative washer pump to drain its contents into a container for possible reuse. With your trim stick or some similar tool, deal with the barbed inlet nipple from the washer pump and gently pry it out of the rubber grommet seal in the reservoir. Pull out and set aside the seal found in the rubber mounting part of the pump in the washer's reservoir. An easy way to do this is to insert a new rubber seal into the washer system's pump mounting hole. Place the washer pump's barbed nipple into the center of the seal and push at an even rate until it is seated. Plug the washer hose back into the barbed outlet nipple on the pump and connect the washer pump connector receptacle to the two left headlamp and dash wire harness connectors. Put the liner back into place in the front fender wheel well, lower the car and add the same fluid you removed to the washer liquid reservoir. In the end, reattach the negative cable to the battery.
