2000 Jeep Wrangler Antenna Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix an Antenna on 2000 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before servicing or repairing the antenna, first pull the negative wire for the battery away. Disconnect the antenna by pulling apart the metal connectors at the junction for the coaxial cable inside the glove box. Turn the antenna mast counterclockwise to separate it from the base on the right side panel. Slide a trim stick or a wide flat tool under the edge of the antenna base trim cover to unsnap it from the antenna body base. Take out the three screws holding the antenna base to the outer cowl on the right side of the panel. Within the passenger area, push the grommet on the antenna part of the coaxial cable out through the opening in the right inner cowl side panel. Once the cowl is off, pull the antenna body base and the cable assembly out through the hole on the right outer cowlin side panel. To set up the antenna, first reverse the steps you took to remove it and apply 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.) of tension to the body base mounting screws. Once that is done, tighten the antenna mast hardware to 3.3 Nm (30 in. lbs.).
