2000 Jeep Wrangler Brake Light Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Light Switch on 2000 Jeep Wrangler?
A: You will need to take off the steering column cover and lower trim panel to reach the brake light switch for service or repair. Firmly press the brake pedal as far as possible, move the switch counterclockwise by about 30° to release it and pull it back and out of the bracket. Release the switch harness and take out the switch. Pull the plunger of the switch completely out and then connect the switch's wires to the harness' wires. With the brake pedal held all the way down, match the tab on the switch with the notch in the switch bracket, put the switch in the bracket and turn it clockwise around 30° until it locks. Take your foot from the brake pedal and, at the same time, push it toward the rear of the car. This will help the plunger settle as it self-adjusts and creates a ratcheting sound within the switch as you do so.
