  A: Before accessing the auxiliary cigarette lighter, first lift the hood and remove the negative lead from the battery. Look inside the lighter base at the retaining bosses and push them out with pairs of pliers designed to fit 90-degree corners. Gently shake the pliers to pull the base out through the mounting ring or fashion a device for that purpose. Cut the wires from the base and put it down, then go on to the base mount ring. Set the mount ring over the instrument panel, thread the wires through it and then put the cap and ring's index tab into the keyhole at 9:00. Guide the base wires into the base, with the base rib at 11 o'clock so they fit into the groove in the mount ring. After pushing the base into the bezel, snap the cigarette lighter cap on top. Plug the negative battery cable back in, close and latch the hood and then check that everything operates as it should.
