2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Fuel Filler Neck Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Fuel Filler Neck on 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Service and repair of the fuel filler neck are best done by first undoing the clips on the air cleaner lid and taking out the makeup air hose and finally removing the negative battery cable. Loose the fuel filler tube cap so you can unscrew the fuel filler neck screws. Set the vehicle up on stands and hold it, then take off the right rear wheel. After that, you should remove the rear half of the inner splash shield. Drain your diesel tank if it's more than half full. Take out the fuel filler tube assembly by detaching the filler tube hose at its base in the fuel tank. Start installation by hooking the fuel filler tube hose onto the fuel tank neck and use a torque wrench to tighten the clamp to 4.1 Nm (38 in. lbs.). Second, place the rear half of the splash shield back into position, lower your car and tighten the screw at the fuel filler neck to 2.7 Nm (24 ins. lbs.). Fix the fuel filler tube cap, then hook back up the negative battery cable and next, fit in the air cleaner lid and makeup air hose.
