2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Washer Reservoir Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Washer Reservoir on 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Open the hood, put the ignition key in Accessory mode and turn the wipers On until they are up. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable, after which remove the right cowl cover by detaching the rear engine compartment seal and releasing the three push retainers at the cowl. Then, unscrew the three reservoir screws, disconnect the wire connector on the pump and release both hose connectors before pulling the reservoir from under the cowl area and emptying it into a bucket. If you replace the washer reservoir, make sure to put the washer pump into the new reservoir which will come with a new washer pump grommet. Softly pry the end of the pump out of the hole in the reservoir. Place the pump into the pump grommet and snap it tightly into the reservoir. Reattach the reservoir to the cowl area and run the white-stripe hose to the white side of the pump and the colorless hose to the other side. Connect the pump wire, tighten the three reservoir retaining screws at 70 in. lbs. or 8 Nm, put the cowl cover in place and attach it by the two right side clips, then cover it with the rear engine compartment seal. Then, attach the battery negative cable once more, close the hood and try the vehicle and its systems to ensure they work.
