How to Replace a Front Wiper Arm on 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser?

Just before opening the hood, Hold the wiper arm and release both handles so the arm/blades return to PARK and turn the ignition OFF. If you have the appropriate tool (#C-4755) or something useful, slide the trim stick under the wiper arm cover and lift it carefully to remove it. Next, detach the retaining nut and rock the arm off the pivot while it's in the up or center position. Eliminate all the metal splinters visible on the pivot shafts. Don't install the wiper system until the wiper module is in the PARK position and be sure the tips of the wiper blades are lined up with the park line on the windshield. Set the arm in an over/centered position on the pivot, add the retaining nut for the arm and turn it until it reaches 21 Nm (190 in. lbs.). Next, fasten the wiper arm nut cap, drop the hood and check that the system functions correctly.
