First, place the vehicle on a hoist and, while it is raised, spot an oil collecting container below where the oil filter is located. While replacing the oil filter, use the install/remove tool band strap to secure the can to the base lock seam, because it is reinforced by the base plate. Turn the oil filter counterclockwise using the right size filter wrench. Clean and examine the filter installation spot, making sure it is smooth, flat and free of bits of gasket or anything else. Use clean engine oil to grease the gasket on the new oil filter, place it and tighten until you reach 21 Nm (or 16 ft. lbs. of torque).
