- Q: How to Locate, Remove, and Install a Vapor Canister on 2001 Dodge Dakota?A: Your vehicle's EVAP canister is underneath, inside the left frame rail on the front of the fuel tank. The first step is to raise your vehicle, disconnect the vacuum tubes at the EVAP canister and keep a record of where they are before removing it. After that, withdraw the metal band from the bracket by removing the nut on the canister. For installation, press the canister locating pins into the mounting bracket grommets and put on the mounting nut, making sure it's tightened to a torque of 17 - 24 Nm (150 - 210 in. lbs.). After, link the vacuum lines back to the canister and slowly lower the car.
