2001 Dodge Dakota Exhaust Pipe Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Service and Repair an Exhaust Pipe on 2001 Dodge Dakota?
A: Always put the vehicle on stands and support the frame before working on the exhaust pipe. Spray both bolts and nuts with the Mopar Rust Penetrant and leave for 5 minutes so the penetrant gets into the joints. Take out the oxygen sensor(s) first, then work on removing the exhaust manifold-to-exhaust pipe nuts, the exhaust pipe to converter clamp and disconnecting the exhaust pipe from the catalytic converter front Range before you get to the exhaust pipe. Test all the components, fixing or removing rusted clamps and damaged mounts and then use new clamps or equivalent originals for the needed alignment and a good sound level. After installing the exhaust manifold pipes, tighten the nuts to 26 Nm (19 ft. lbs.) torque. Line the exhaust pipe up with the catalytic converter flange and secure it in place with an exhaust clamp, tightly secured with 41 Nm (33 ft. lbs.) of torque. Fasten the oxygen sensor connector(s), lower your vehicle, start it and check for any exhaust leaks or touch with body panels, then adjust the alignment when needed.
