2001 Dodge Dakota Washer Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Windshield Washer Pump on 2001 Dodge Dakota?
A: First, remove and isolate the battery's negative cable before servicing the windshield washer pump. Next, pull the wires for the headlight and dash away from the motor connector receptacle and then let the washer fluid drain by separating the washer supply hose from the washer pump's nipple to a clean container so you can reuse it. Raise the barbed inlet nipple of the washer pump out of the rubber seal using a trim stick or another suitable flat-bladed tool, taking care not to damage the reservoir. Lift out and throw away the rubber seal in the washer pump mounting hole in the reservoir. For putting in the new rubber grommet seal, put it into the hole where the washer pump mounts, checking that it is brand new. Press the barbed inlet nipple of the washer pump into the grommet in the reservoir. Link the washer hose back to the pump's barbed nipple and connect the dash component wiring and headlamp connectors to the motor connector receptacle. Pour the fluid from the reservoir back into the washer and then wire up the negative battery cable once again.
