2001 Dodge Dakota Ignition Coil Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install an Ignition Coil on an Engine on 2001 Dodge Dakota?
A: The side of the engine behind the distributor is where you will see the ignition coil which is an epoxy filled type affixed to a bracket. First, take the cable from the ignition coil's secondary and remove it along with the engine harness connector from the ignition coil. After that, take the bolts out of the mounting area on the ignition coil, since nuts may hold the coil from the back side of the bracket and then remove the coil. To install, join the ignition coil to the bracket and make sure it is strong; if you have nuts and bolts, tighten them to 11 Nm (100 in. lbs.) torque, while if only bolts are available, tighten them to 5 Nm (50 in. lbs.) torque. Next, hook up the engine harness connector onto the ignition coil cable.
