How to Service and Repair a Brake Light Switch on 2001 Dodge Durango?

The first step to giving service and repair to the brake light switch is to disconnect the corresponding wiring harness. With the brake pedal pushed down hard, rotate the switch about 300 degrees to join the switch lock tab with the corresponding notch on the bracket, press the switch rearward and release the pedal. When installing, press the brake pedal and use your hands to rotate the tab on the switch into the notch in the bracket while you insert the switch. Turn it about 30° to fix it securely. Next up, hook up the harness wires to the switch, let go of the brake pedal and pull the release lever on the switch up to plunge the switch which completes your adjustment.
