  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Power Steering Pump on 2001 Dodge Durango?
    A: Start by cutting off the power steering pump drive belt to give room for your work. Grab the hose for the fluid return and pull the hoses off the pump, lastly cap each of the fittings. Then, take out the ground cable and remove the bracket bolts before coming to the pump assembly. To get to the pump attaching screws, take out the screws in the pump pulley and afterwards take out the pump bracket's screws and remove the bracket. Install the bracket onto the pump and tighten the bolts to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Once that's done, attach the pump pulley. Place the pump assembly on the engine block and tighten each screw securely to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.), then secure the battery ground wire again with a tightened bolt. Install the fluid hoses on the pump, connect the serpentine drive belt and put power steering fluid in the reservoir for the first operation.
