- Q: How to Remove and Install a Vapor Canister on 2001 Dodge Durango?A: The system for removing and installing the EVAP canister is not the same as for other parts because it is found below the vehicle, inside the left frame rail in front of the fuel tank. Raise the car and unhook the vacuum lines before you uninstall the canister; remember to note where the lines were so you can attach them again afterwards. Also, at this stage, take out the canister mounting nut and lift the canister clear of the mounting bracket. To install the canister, slip link the canister's locating pins into the mounting bracket grommets and screw in the mounting nut until the wrench reads 17-24 Nm (150-210 In. lbs.) At the end, put back the vacuum lines at the canister and drop the car to the ground.
