2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Antenna Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace an Antenna Cable on the Instrument Panel on 2001 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: Removing the instrument panel antenna cable begins with separating and isolating the negative cable from the battery. Slide under the passenger side of the instrument panel, next to the right cowl side inner panel, to unhook the coaxial cable connector from the housing's clip at the bottom. To disconnect the coaxial cable, peel away the foam tape, pull apart the metal connector halves and don't pull on the cable. Before installing, attach a suitable length of cord or twine from the instrument panel end of the antenna's coaxial cable connector. Slide the glove box down next to the instrument panel. Go through the glove box to disconnect the antenna cable from the clips on the back of the instrument panel. After, carefully remove the radio receiver from the instrument panel. Connect the end of the antenna cable to the receiver by closing the cover on the receiver. Leave the cord or twine connected to the instrument panel's antenna cable connector. Take the antenna cable out of the instrument panel. At the beginning of the installation, make sure to join the end of the cord or twine that you unwrapped earlier, to the connector at the end of the antenna cable. Pull the antenna cable through the radio receiver opening with your cord or twine and land the radio receiver on the instrument panel. Pull open the glove box and attach the cable end to the back of the instrument panel, before sliding the entire glove box into place on top of the panel. Disconnect the cord or twine from the instrument panel antenna cable, slide under the passenger instrument panel to the cowl side inner panel area and slide the connector back on the radio antenna cable. End the connection with a piece of foam tape. Secure the end of the coaxial cable into the retainer clip on the bottom of the heater-A/C housing and then link the battery's negative wire back to the connector.
