2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Seat Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Service and Repair a Rear Seat Belt and Retractor on 2001 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: Make sure to look over all seat belts, buckles, mounting parts and retractors after your car seat belt is serviced. If you come across a torn, cut or frayed belt, change it and if any belt is twisted, straighten it. Exchange any belt that has a snap or retractor that doesn't work and any belt with a deformed or damaged latch plate or anchor plate. Repairing a seat belt part is not allowed; only replace any parts that have problems with new, unused and listed parts in the Mopar Parts Catalog. The rear seat belt and retractor can be taken out by first pulling the rear seat from the car. After that, take off the trim cover from the door sill, then remove the screw that holds the lower seat belt anchor plate to the quarter inner panel close to the base of the C-pillar. Lift the rear shoulder belt loop cover and remove the unusual screw that holds the turning loop to the quarter inner panel near the top of the C-pillar. Next, drop the trim of the quarter inner panel, remove the rear seat shoulder belt turning loop and unconnect the lower seat belt anchor plate from the trim. Unscrew the retractor attached to the quarter inner panel and then take out the rear shoulder belt and retractor from the panel. For installation, mount the rear shoulder belt retractor onto the quarter inner panel and screw it tight to 40 Nm (29 ft. lbs.). After turning the rear seat shoulder belt turn loop and placing the lower seat belt anchor plate with the quarter trim panel, mount the quarter trim back onto the inner quarter panel. Place the shoulder belt loop onto the quarter inner that is closest to the top of the C-pillar, secure and screw the loop in place at 40 Nm (29 ft. lbs.), fold the cover over the rear loop and snap it shut to hide the screw head. Set the lower seat belt anchor plate onto the quarter inner panel close to the base of the C-pillar, hold it and mount it to the quarter inner panel using a 40 Nm (29 ft. lb.) screw, then mount the cover onto the door sill. Finally, fit the rear seat into its position inside the passenger area.
