2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Van A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to replace the A/C Hose (liquid line) on 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Van?
A: To change the A/C liquid hose/line, start by pulling off and blocking the battery negative cable and next, recover the refrigerant from the car. Unscrew the fastener that holds the liquid line block fitting to the filter-drier's inlet, then unfasten the fitting before plugging or taping all opened refrigerant lines. After that, pull off the radiator grille and take out the screw that holds the condenser outlet fitting on the liquid line, filling up and then plugging or taping over all opened sections of the refrigerant lines. Then, get rid of the liquid line from inside the engine bay. To install the unit, take off the tape or plugs from the liquid line block fitting, the condenser outlet and the liquid line and attach the liquid line to the condenser outlet with a screw tightened to 22 Nm (200 in. lbs.). Mount the radiator grille and uncover the liquid line block's fitting and the filter-drier's inlet, then guide the liquid line into the filter-drier, twist it until it fits firmly and use a screw to secure it, tightening to 13.5 Nm (120 in. lbs.). Once done, attach the battery's negative cable, drain the system and charge it up with refrigerant. All along, prevent bends being too sharp in the refrigerant plumbing, making them wide enough and securing hose connections so that the lines stay at least 3 inches from the exhaust manifold. All flexible hose refrigerant lines should be checked at least once every year to determine their condition and correct placement.
