2001 Dodge Ram 3500 Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair a Shock Absorber on 2001 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: To work on the rear shock absorber, you should first lift the vehicle and hold the axle up. Then, take out the bolt and flag nut from the frame crossmember bracket and next, remove the bolt and nut from the axle bracket to let you take out the rear shock absorber. Place the shock absorber in the mounting brackets and hang the suspension brackets onto the shock to keep them in place. Then tighten the top and bottom bolts and secure with nuts. Apply torque from both bolts/nuts on the upper and lower frame at 136 Nm (100 ft. lbs.) and take out the support. Carefully lower the car down.
