  • Q: What Are A/C Compressor Cut-Out Switches and How Do They Work on 2001 Jeep Cherokee?
    A: Start by unhooking the negative battery cable prior to changing the A/C low pressure switch. Disconnect the wire harness connector from the A/C low pressure switch at the top of the accumulator, then unscrew the switch from the fitting there. Take out and get rid of the O-ring seal inside the accumulator fitting. Do not install a new O-ring without lubricating it with clean refrigerant oil recommended for the R-134a system and only attach the specified O-rings using the recommended refrigerant oil for your vehicle's compressor. Install and twist the A/C low pressure switch onto the accumulator fitting, plug the switch's wire onto the harness connector and secure the negative battery cable.
