2001 Jeep Wrangler Brake Light Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Light Switch on 2001 Jeep Wrangler?
A: In order to repair or replace the brake light switch, you may have to remove the steering column cover, along with the lower trim panel. Use the brake pedal to ground the brakes, rotate the switch past 299 degrees counterclockwise and slide the switch out of the bracket, making sure all the way out. Unplug the switch harness and take out the switch. When installing, pull the plunger until it is at its farthest and link the wires from the harness to the switch. Apply the brake and, holding the pedal, move the tab on the switch into the notch of the switch bracket, insert the switch and turn it slowly by about a half turn to lock it down. Take your foot off the brake, then pull the pedal completely toward the back; this sets the plunger right, as you hear a ratcheting sound as it adjusts automatically by slotting into the switch.
