2002 Chrysler Sebring Oil Pan Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain an Oil Pan on 2002 Chrysler Sebring?
A: You should always disconnect the negative battery cable and then take out the engine oil dipstick and tube before you service the oil pan. Take the vehicle onto a hoist, remove all the oil and eliminate the oil filter. After that, take out the structural collar, exhaust cross-under pipe and torque converter housing cover. Ensure that before removing the lower bolt holding the A/C compressor to the oil pan, you remove the two timining cover bolts as well. Remove the screws from the outside panel, lift out the base of the oil pan and take it out of the engine. Wash the oil pan and the sealing areas and check the gaskets on the oil pan and timing chain cover to see if there is a need for replacement. Coat the front and back of the oil pan gasket with an 1/8 inch layer of Mopar Engine RTV GEN II. Instead of the timing chain cover, secure the oil pan to the block with its bolts and nuts. Then, tighten the timing chain cover bolts to the panto bolts using 12 Nm, tighten the oil pan bolts to 28 Nm and finish with tightening the nuts to 12 Nm. Put the lower A/C compressor bolt back, tightening it to 28 Nm. Put on the torque converter housing cover, oil filter and drain plug, after which attach the exhaust cross-under pipe and structural collar. Raise the vehicle, put in the new oil dipstick, insert the dipstick tube too, add oil to the engine to its proper height and connect the negative battery cable.
