2002 Dodge Dakota Brake Line Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Repair a Brake Line Using Double Inverted Flaring on 2002 Dodge Dakota?
A: Recommended procedure is to use a performed metal tapered brake line for all brake hose and line service. However, when metal factory replacement brake lines are not available, use emergency methods with double-wall steel tube instead. To prevent bending or forcing coil, it is important to have useful bending tools and you should also have tools for producing ISO flares. First, use a Tubing Cutter to take off the damaged part and carefully ream the cut edge to make a good flare. Put the replacement tube nut on the tube and insert the tube into the flaring tool. Put the gauge form on the tip of the tube, push it through the flaring tool jaws and stop when the recessed notch on the gauge matches the diameter of your tube. Secure the tool bar onto the tube and then stick the end of the gauge plug into the tube. Swing the compression disc over the gauge, then place the tapered flaring screw into the recess of the disc. Fasten down the flaring tool handle so the plug gauge is flush with the tool's jaws which will start the inverted flare. After that, take out the plug gauge and continue to form the inverted flare by hand.
