2001 Dodge Dakota Brake Line Parts and Q&A
Q: How Should You Service and Repair Brake Lines on 2001 Dodge Dakota?
A: You should use a preformed metal brake tube for routine brake hose and line maintenance or repair, but double-wall steel tube is recommended for emergency use when you cannot find the proper factory piece. Using the correct bending tools prevents brake tubes from kinking or twisting and special flaring tools are necessary to make ISO or double inverted flares. Use a Tubing Cutter to separate the ruined tube and then make sure all the burrs are off the tube's inside before moving forward. After that, fit the tube nut onto the tube and place the tube in the flaring tool, adjusting it so it is in line with the top of the tool bar. Lock the tool bar down once the tube is in place. Fit the adaptor of the right size onto the yoke screw of the flaring tool and then lubricate the adaptor. Next, fit the adaptor and yoke screw onto the tube and tighten the yoke screw until the adaptor is directly on the bar of the boat tool.
