2002 Dodge Dakota Speed Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Front Wheel Speed Sensor on 2002 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before working on the front wheel speed sensor, tend to the vehicle with the wheels raised and held up. Remove the bolt holding the sensor onto the steering knuckle, then cut off the clamps on the sensor wire that attach it to the control arm and inner fender panel. Open the engine compartment, take off the sensor wire from the harness and take out the sensor. When replacing the front sensor, use the replacement bolts made at the factory, because they have unique features and they shouldn't be replaced with other bolts. Set up the sensor on the knuckle and then fasten the bolts that hold it in place with 21 Nm (190 inch lbs.) tightness. Instead of bending the wire under objects up front, route it away from the various underhood heat or moving sources. Don't forget to steer left and right using the steering wheel to check that the wire doesn't hit any part of the steering or suspension before removing the supports and lowering the vehicle.
