How to service the front shock absorber on 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Van?

The first step in front shock service is to take out the upper nut, retainer and bushing from the shock stud. With the suspension raised, break the lower suspension bolts to set the shock free from the arm. Start by fitting the lower retainer and bushing to the upper stud, then gently slide the shock absorber through the lower suspension arm and into its hole in the frame. Put in the lower shock bolts, using a torque wrench at 23 Nm and then slot in the upper grommet and retainer onto the shock absorber stud, with a nut on top that you need to tighten to 34 Nm.
