In 9 1/4 vehicles needing service on the rear axle, begin by removing the axle shaft and then get rid of the seal at the end of the axle using a small pry bar. Removing the seal and bearing can be achieved with the same tool at the same time. Following this, remove the axle shaft bearing with Bearing Remover 6310 and Foot 6310-9. While mounting, take out any residual sealer and burrs from the axle tube bore. Use Installer C-4198 and Handle C-4171 to put in the axle shaft bearing, driving it in all the way, so that the tool touches the axle tube and the bearing's correct part number faces the installer. Rub axle lubricant over the edge of the new seal and insert it using C-4076-B and C-4735-1 before fitting the shaft once more.
