2002 Dodge Ram 3500 Control Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service the Control Arm in the Upper Suspension on 2002 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: To work on the upper control arm, first lift and support your car, take off the tire and then remove the wheel. With a jack stand, hold up the outboard end of the lower suspension arm. After that, take out the upper ball joint's cotter pin and nut, then use remover MB-990635 to separate the ball joint and the knuckle. Eliminate the bolts from the upper suspension arm bracket connected to the pivot bar and remove the arm from the vehicle. To set it up, place the upper suspension arm on the holder and insert and tighten the bolts holding the pivot bar to 169 Nm (125 ft. lbs.). Set the ball joint in the knuckle, tighten the nut to 81 Nm (60 ft. lbs.) and use a new cotter pin. Take the jack out of the lower suspension arm, fix the tire and wheel assembly, remove the support and bring the car down again. The final step is to synchronize your car's front suspension.
