2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Wiper Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace a Front Wiper Arm on 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Moving first to hold the wiper arm up and releasing the tension on it will allow you to pull it off the windshield. Remove the plastic nut cap on the wiper arm's pivot end and take out the nut sealing it to the wiper shaft. After engaging a battery terminal puller, disengage the wiper arm from the wiper pivot shaft splines and then remove the connection at the front wiper arm pivot end. Turn the ignition ON and slide the knob on the right control panel left to OFF and hold it, ensuring the motor stays parked. When the wipers are stationary, then switch off the ignition. Hold the front wiper arms over the windshield as the wiper motor is in the park position and guide the arm pivots onto the wiper pivots so that the blade's lower edge aligns with the lines on the windshield glass. Hold the wiper arm just slightly away from the glass to ease the springs and slide the pivot hole on the end of the wiper arm down onto the wiper pivot shaft. With your wrenches, tighten the nut attached to the wiper arm to the pivot shaft with a force of 23.7 Nm (210 in. lbs.). Spray the windshield with water, turn on the front wipers, set the wiper switch to OFF and adjust the arm until they lay correctly on the glass. After that, reinstall the plastic nut cap on the pivot nut.
