2001 Jeep Wrangler Power Steering Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Power Steering Pump on 2001 Jeep Wrangler?
A: You should first remove the serpentine belt, unhook the hoses from the pump and empty it before you begin work. After that, undo the three pump mounting bolts by going through the holes in the pump pulleys. Tip the pump down so you can remove it from the engine and then take the pulley off of the pump. Installation should start with adding the pulley to the pump and then putting the pump onto the engine bracket. Adjust the bolt on the pump bracket to 47 Nm and fill each of the three pump mounting bolts to a pressure of 27 Nm. Be sure to attach the pressure line to the pump and tighten it with 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) of force, only after that, link the return hoses. Now, add the drive belt, top off the power steering fluid and do the initial run of the power steering pump.
