2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser Camshaft Seal Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Camshaft Seal on 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Following this, you need to take off the timing belt to service and repair the camshaft oil seal. Put Special Tool 6847 over every camshaft sprocket and then remove the center bolt. After that, unfasten the camshaft sprockets and remove the rear timing belt cover. Special Tool C-4679A allows you to safely remove the camshaft seal, without harming the shaft seal. Before attaching the seal, wipe the shaft seal surface clear of any varnish, dirt or marks and polish if required with 400 grit paper. Place the camshaft seals into the cylinder head with Special Tool MD-998306 and be sure they are flush with the head before proceeding. Replace the timing belt rear cover and the camshaft sprockets, making sure you use Special Tool 6847 to keep each sprocket in place while the center bolt is tightened to 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.). After that, insert the timing belt and cover it up with the front covers.
