2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser Oil Pan Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service an Oil Pan on 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: It starts with raising the car on a hoist, removing the motor oil and finally taking out the filter. Then, you can remove the accessory drive belt splash shield and the structural collar before handing the lower torque strut. After that, take off the oil filter adapter and gasket and lift out the oil pan and remove its gasket. Be sure to clean the oil pan and all the places where the gasket meets the engine parts. To install, spread Mopar Engine RTV GEN II around the oil pump located at the engine block joint, then fit the oil pan gasket to the block. Attach the pan gasket and the pan and tighten everything using 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.) on the screws. Connect the oil filter adapter and gasket back and secure the screws to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). Lastly, install the oil drainplug, the oil filter and then the structural collar and lower torque strut. Set the vehicle down and measure the engine crankcase oil level to be sure it is at the set point.
