2003 Dodge Dakota Wheel Bearing Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair Wheel Bearings on a 9 1/4 Inch Rear Axle on 2003 Dodge Dakota?
A: First take out the axle shaft using the right tools and then use the small pry bar to remove the seal from the end of the axle tube. Both the seal and bearing can be taken out at once by using the bearing removal tool. Following that, attach the Handy Tool 6306 to Foot 6310-9 and use Bearing Remover 6310 to take out the axle shaft bearing. Removal of old sealant and any traces of burrs should be part of your cleaning process when setting up the axle tube bore. Place Installer C-4198 onto the hub end while Handler C-4171 is on the bearing, slide them both over the axle tube until the face of the bearing is up against the hole. Apply axle lubricant to the edge of the new axle seal and then put it in position using Installer C-4076-B and Handle C-4735-1, securing the axle shaft last.
