2004 Dodge Dakota Wheel Bearing Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair Wheel Bearings and Bushings for the Front Axle C205F on 2004 Dodge Dakota?
A: When servicing and repairing the axle shaft bearings and bushings on the front axle C205F, begin by setting the transmission to neutral and raising your vehicle up so it is safe. Get rid of the half shaft and skid plate when present. Clean the area of the axle seal, remove the O-ring from the axle shaft, remove the axle shaft after that and take out the seal. With the Remover C-4660-A, screw the nut onto the axle shaft to disperse the remover in the bearing, then place the bearing remove cup, bearing and nut around the axle shaft, tighten the nut and pull out the bearing. Check the axle shaft tube bore for roughness and burrs and remove them as they are found. Wash the axle shaft tube bore before fitting a bearings using Installer 5063 and Handle C-4171. After that, use Installer X402 and Handle C-4171 to add a new axle shaft seal, then reinstall both the axle shaft and half shaft.
