2003 Dodge Durango Wiper Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace a Wiper Motor on 2003 Dodge Durango?
A: To start, disconnect and cut off power to the negative terminal of the battery. Take away the rear wiper arm from the shaft of the rear wiper motor. Gently use a door trim panel removal tool to push against the base of the nut cover where it connects to the wiper motor output shaft bezel and grommet on the outer liftgate panel, until it secures come loose, being careful not to damage the outer liftgate panel or its paint. Outside the liftgate, remove the nut that holds the rear wiper motor output shaft to the panel. Then, remove the bezel as well as the grommet from the shaft itself. Remove the panel from the inside of the liftgate and pull the wire harness connector from the rear wiper motor's wire connector. Open the two screws that hold the rear wiper motor mounting bracket onto the liftgate panel and remove the whole motor and bracket assembly. Place the rear wiper motor and the bracket into the liftgate as one unit and then only tighten the two screws that hold the bracket in place to the inner panel lightly. Align the bezel and grommet so they cover the output shaft and sit over the motor belt, center the shaft in the mounting hole, fasten it with the nut and tighten to 5 Nm (43 in. lbs.). From the cable access area, tighten both screws inside the mount bracket frame to 8 Nm (72 in. lbs.), link up the cable harness connector and install the trim panel using the instructions in the manual. After snapping on the nut cover, reattach the arm of your rear windshield wiper to the bezel on the outside and complete the battery negative cable connection.
