2004 Dodge Durango Wiper Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Wiper Motor on 2004 Dodge Durango?
A: Your first step should be to disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. Give both front wiper arms a twist so they come loose from the pivots and then take off the plenum cowl cover/grille panel over the front wiper. Take out the connector from the front wiper motor using the disconnect wire harness. Insert two large screwdrivers carefully so they pull apart the wiper motor crank and the metal on the drive link and push until the socket comes unsnapped from the ball on the crank. Take out the sleeve bushing of the left wiper drive link from the ball stud on the wiper motor crank arm. Take out the three screws from under the wiper motor bracket while it is supported, then pull the motor and crank arm unit away from the wiper arm. Put the front wiper motor and crank arm in place from under the front wiper module bracket, then install and fasten them with the three screws at 7 Nm (62 in. lbs.). Fit the left wiper drive link sleeve bushing onto the motor crank ball stud and put the socket bushing of the right wiper drive link assembly onto the crank arm's ball stud. Insert a short socket over the capped side of the bushing and hold a large pair of channel-lock pliers on the ball stud to snap the bushing in place without touching the plastic. Connect the wire harness connector to the wiper motor connector, place the cowl plenum cover or grille panel back in and reconnect the battery negative cable. After turning on the ignition, flip the front wiper switch On and Off a couple of times so the wiper runs and stops once, then reinstall both front wiper arms into their original positions on the pivots.
