2003 Dodge Neon Speed Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Speed Sensor in a T350 Manual Transmission on 2003 Dodge Neon?
A: Before making repairs or servicing the Transmission Speed Sensor in the T350, lift the car on a hoist and unplug its speed sensor connector. Clean any build-up around the sensor before you remove it so dirt doesn't get into the transaxle. Remove the speed sensor retaining bolt, then take out the speed sensor from the transaxle, making sure the sensor drive gear is not thrown in the transaxle; if it does, connect it back to the sensor. Remove the drive gear from the middle of the speed sensor. Start installation by connecting the pinion gear to the speed sensor; after that, use a fresh O-ring to put the speed sensor into the transaxle. Secure the bolt to 7 Newton meters (about 60 inch pounds) and then join the speed sensor cable back onto the engine. Lower the car once more and check the speedometer by doing a test drive.
