For wheel speed sensor repair or service at the front, raise the vehicle and unhook the cable connector for the sensor from the harness above the front suspension crossmember, pulling the locking tab back first. With the left front sensor, take out the speed sensor cable clipped to the frame rail's brake tube. Also, remove the speed sensor cable grommet on the outside of the frame rail from the brake hose holding bracket. After that, remove the bolt that fastens the wheel speed sensor to the
Steering Knuckle, avoiding putting pliers on the sensor head and damaging it; if the sensor won't turn, tap the edge of the sensor head ear gently with a hammer and punch as you wiggle it side-to-side. Carefully take the sensor head off of the steering knuckle and then remove the screw attaching the wheel speed sensor to the back of the strut to take the sensor out. Install the wheel speed sensor on the strut with its mounting screw and place the head on the steering knuckle, then tighten it with the mounting bolt to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). Tuck the sensor cable above and then below the frame rail and then attach the grommet for the speed sensor cable to the bracket fixed to the brake hose. Wrap the wheel speed sensor cable at the base of the frame rail, then link it to the wiring harness connector and remember to place the locking tab inside the frame rail. Whenever installing a left front sensor, run the speed sensor cable through the brake tube under the frame rail, lower the vehicle and check both the base brakes and the ABS during a road test.
