2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Throttle Body Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Throttle Body on a 3.7L V-6 Engine on 2003 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: You should start by taking off the air cleaner tube attached to the throttle body when servicing or repairing a 3.7L V-6 engine. First, unplug the wires from the IAC motor and TPS and then relax the throttle cables attached to the throttle lever arm which is detailed in the instructions for the Accelerator Pedal and Throttle Cable. Then, separate the appropriate vacuum lines at the throttle body and get rid of the three bolts that hold the throttle body in place. Remove the throttle body from the intake manifold, then examine the health of the O-ring connecting them both. When installing, look at the O-ring and swap it out if required and wipe both the throttle body and intake manifold clean. Place the O-ring, attach the throttle body to the intake manifold, use three bolts to fix it in place and tighten them at a setting of 12 Nm (105 in.lbs.). Once completed, you should put in the control cables, connect the electrical cables, add vacuum hoses and add the air plenum.
