2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Van Washer Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service the windshield Washer Pump on 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Van?
A: First detach the windshield washer reservoir from its position in the engine compartment. Remove the washer pump/motor wire harness connector from the headlamp and dash assembly motor by pressing and pulling. After that, remove the tube from the draining valve nipple and let the water move into a clean reuse container below. Lift the barbed inlet hole of the pump by gently sliding a trim stick underneath the rubber seal on the outside of the reservoir. Lift out and throw away the rubber grommet seal from the mounting hole in the washer's reservoir. When installing, fit a rubber grommet seal into the hole for the washer pump in the reservoir and always use a new seal. Place the barbed inlet nipple of the washer pump into the rubber grommet seal in the reservoir and push down evenly on the washer pump until the barbed nipple is all the way seated in the seal. Screw the washer hose onto the barbed nipple on the washer pump and reinsert the headlamp and dash wire harness onto the connector on the motor. When ready, place the washer reservoir back into your engine and fill it up with the old washer fluid you poured before.
