2003 Dodge Sprinter 3500 A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Service and Repair an A/C Hose Discharge Line on 2003 Dodge Sprinter 3500?
A: Before handling the discharge line, pull out the grounding cable from the battery and clear the refrigerant from the system. Take out the grille and front fascia, remove the holding nut by the discharge line fitting on the left hand condenser side and disconnect the fitting from the condenser inlet port. Peel off the seal on the discharge line fitting and plug or tape over the previously opened fitting and condenser inlet port. After that, undo the bolt attached to the top of the compressor, pull out the discharge line fitting and toss away the seal. Again, cove the fitting and the compressor discharge port, then take off the discharge line from the retaining clip and remove it all from the vehicle. Be sure that no bends or kinks appear in the refrigerant plumbing and that every bend is no less than ten times the diameter of the hose and stays at least 3 inches away from the exhaust manifold during installation. Set the discharge line in the engine compartment, undo the tape or plugs from the compressor discharge port and discharge line fitting, lubricate the rubber seal with clean refrigerant oil and insert it onto the discharge line fitting. Join the fitting to the compressor discharge port, put in the bolt and tighten it to 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs.). After that, remove the tape or plugs from the condenser inlet port and discharge line fitting. Lubricate another new O-ring, install it on the fitting at the discharge line, match it with the inlet port on the condensation, install the nut that holds the fitting in place and tighten it to 33 N.m (24 ft. lbs.). After that, put the grille and front fascia back, flush and fill the refrigerant system and reconnect the negative battery cable.
