2003 Dodge Sprinter 3500 Heater Core Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair a Heater Core on 2003 Dodge Sprinter 3500?
A: To work on or repair the heater core, first cut off the air bag system on any vehicle with air bags by disconnecting and clearing the battery negative (ground) cable and then wait two minutes so the air bag system capacitor is fully drained. You need to take out the heater housing and open it to be able to reach the heater core. Take out the heater core from under the heater housing. In case it is required, eliminate the three heater core tube retaining screws and haul off the whole heater core tube assembly from the heater core, then trash the heater core seals. If the heater core tube assembly was taken off, grease the rubber O-ring seals with clean fluids before putting them onto the heater core fitting. Insert the heater core tube assembly and add and tighten the three bolts provided, no more than 5 N.m (45 in. lbs.). After that, put the heater core into the bottom half of the heater housing, put all the parts together and later install the heater housing.
