To maintain the rear axle bearings and seals of an 8 1/4 inch axle, lift the car and take off the axle shaft. Removal of bearing and seal Use a pry bar and bearing removal tool to remove the seal and bearing. Wipe the tube of the axle, install new bearing and seal, lubricate and reassemble.
