2004 Chrysler Crossfire Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Caliper on Rear Disc Brakes on 2004 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Before servicing or repairing the rear disc brake caliper, raise and support the vehicle and then remove the rear wheel and tire. Remove a little bit of brake fluid from the reservoir with a clean suction gun. Untighten and remove the caliper bolts and lift the caliper from the knuckle to avoid having brake fluid come into contact with anything painted. Turn the caliper as you hold the brake hose in place with a wrench. Blow out the retaining pin with an appropriate punch and then get rid of the anti-rattle clip, as well as the brake pads, from the caliper. Remove the caliper from the car and examine its parts for signs of wear. During installation, slide the rear brake pads into position, wrench and rotate the caliper to fit the brake hose and make sure there is no bend by tightening the bolts to 55 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). Perform a complete brake system fill and bleed and then attach the wheel and tire assembly back. You should not begin to move the vehicle until the brakes have become firm by pumping the brake pedal.
